
Andrew N. Kleit, Senior Expert
Andrew Kleit is a Senior Expert at Navigant Economics LLC and Professor of Energy and Environmental Economics at the Pennsylvania State University. Professor Kleit is the Chair of Penn State's innovative and highly successful program in Energy Business and Finance. This program combines the Penn State’s Smeal College of Business and Penn State's College of Earth and Mineral Science to provide economic and business education focused on the energy and earth science sectors.
Professor Kleit's research interests include industrial organization, energy and the environment, antitrust and regulation, and health economics. He is the author of over 70 articles and the author or editor of 5 books. His work has appeared in numerous scholarly publications, including the Review of Economics and Statistics, the Journal of Law and Economics, Review of Industrial Organization, Energy Journal, Economic Inquiry, Journal of Regulatory Economics, Managerial and Decision Economics, Research in Law and Economics, and the Southern Economic Journal. He has also had op-ed pieces appear in the Wall Street Journal, the New York Times, and the Orange County Register.
Professor Kleit has worked for numerous clients in the petroleum, electricity, and automobile sectors, as well as on a variety of matters for the Attorney General of Pennsylvania. He has made appearances before several state agencies, the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission and the Food and Drug Administration, as well as in private litigation.
Professor Kleit has over 20 years of experience in government agencies and academic positions focusing on antitrust and energy issues. He has worked for the President’s Council of Economic Advisors, the Federal Trade Commission, the Canadian Competition Bureau and the Commodity Futures Trading Commission. He has also been a tenured professor at the Louisiana State University
Professor Kleit received a Ph.D. in economics from Yale University.
