Steven Hilfer, Senior Advisor

Steven Hilfer is a Senior Advisor at Navigant Economics specializing in the sell side perspective of the securitization business and focusing on mortgage-backed securities, ABS CDOs and CLOs.   Mr. Hilfer has over 25 years experience in these products, is highly regarded in the industry and has a unique mix of quantitative, trading, sales, documentation and structuring expertise.

Mr. Hilfer had a 20‐year career at Credit Suisse/ DLJ where he was the head of the U.S. ABS CDO banking and structuring team.  He spent 7 years at Credit Suisse originating, structuring and executing CLOs and spent over 10 years leading teams and structuring various mortgage‐backed securities including non‐agency CMOs and agency CMOs.  He began his career at Moody’s Investors Service as a rating analyst. Prior to Navigant, he was a structured product trader at Auriga Securities.  Prior to that, he led a business development team creating mortgage products related to consumer credit data for Experian Capital Markets. 

Mr. Hilfer has a M.B.A. in Finance from New York University and holds a B.S. in Mathematics and Computer Science from the State University of New York at Binghamton.  Mr. Hilfer is registered with FINRA and holds the Series 24 (Principal), 7 & 63 licenses.
