Navigant Economics offers a wide range of expertise in all areas of the financial industry. Our experts' recent litigation work has examined a variety of financial instruments from asset-backed securities to derivatives, equities, and options, as well as in various matters related to securities fraud.

Our analysis is grounded in thorough and rigorous analytical examinations of liability and damage claims. We bring to our engagements superb academic training (and affiliation with premier academic institutions) as well as industry experience. We have provided testimony and consulting services in market manipulation matters involving commodity and foreign exchange markets, securities markets, and over-the-counter derivative instrument markets. We provide analysis of individual stockholders and institutional damage claims, insider transactions, trading behavior, and loss causation. Our engagements have involved claims related to, among other issues, churning, international trading and investment issues, investment margining and involuntary liquidation issues, hedging, suitability, tax and regulatory issues.

Our experts also consult on and testify in matters involving allegations of securities fraud (including claims of earnings manipulation, inadequate disclosure and fraudulent transactions), post-acquisition disputes, forensic analysis of complex transactions, shareholder derivative claims, breach of fiduciary duty, employee and shareholder embezzlement, and theft of proprietary information. We have assisted counsel in evaluating and defending against actions brought by the SEC, CFTC, NASD and other regulatory organizations, and we have assisted with board-directed investigations of alleged accounting irregularities at numerous Fortune 500 Companies.

Our valuation experience includes standard valuation methodologies as well as methodologies for valuing a variety of complex derivatives. We have extensive experience analyzing a variety of derivative investment issues, including trading and investment related to interest-rate swaps, swaptions, structured notes, foreign exchange, mortgage-backed securities, asset-backed securities, credit derivatives, futures, calls, puts, and exotic options.

We have submitted expert reports in cases related to mortgage lending practices and pricing, repurchase risk, mortgage insurance, the transfer of servicing rights, and the Real Estate Settlement Procedures Act. We have consulted with clients regarding the effects of mortgage modifications on loan performance, the capital adequacy of the Federal Housing Administration, and the impact of nontraditional forms of credit on mortgage default.
